Upcoming Changes: Transition to Syllabus 9478 (Examinable from 2026)
Starting in 2026, the H2 Physics syllabus will transition from 9749 to 9478. Key changes include:
- Assessment Adjustments: The practical component’s marks will be reduced from 55 to 50, though it will maintain a 20% weightage. The planning component’s weightage will decrease from 5% to 4%, while the combined weightage for manipulation, measurement, observation, data presentation, analysis, conclusions, and evaluation will increase from 15% to 16%.
- Content Emphasis: There will be a greater focus on data analysis and the use of digital tools, such as spreadsheets, to handle experimental data. This shift aims to enhance students’ computational and data-processing skills.
